Schramel Conservatory of Dance (SCOD) is the official school of the New Orleans Ballet Theatre. Our youth and adult ballet and modern dance programs offer serious minded dance students in the New Orleans area a chance to train with professional dancers on the highest level.
Schramel Conservatory of Dance announces its 2017 Spring Concert.
The performance will begin at 7 PM on Thursday, May 11th and will be held in Roussel Hall on Loyola University's campus. Attendees are invited to purchase tickets in advance through our website on in person at our studios at 920 Terpsichore St. All tickets are general admission and cost $10.
SCOD's 2017 Mini Dance Camp will be held from June 26th - 30th for boys and girls ages 5-8 with arts and crafts, ballet, hip-hop, jazz, modern dance and fun. Online registration coming soon.
Training Dancers at the Highest Level: Schramel Conservatory of Dance (SCOD) offers classes for children and adults in classical ballet, modern dance, yoga and Pilates® with highly trained professional teachers. All of our teachers are classically trained ballet dancers who have had careers in professional dance companies throughout the United States and internationally.
Marjorie Hardwick Schramel and Gregory Schramel founded Schramel Conservatory of Dance in 2002 after more than twenty years working as professional ballet dancers. Since then, the school has produced dancers who have gone on to have professional dance careers, students who have attained dance degrees, and apprenticed dancers who will one day enter ballet companies nationally. The school has won the prestigious "Outstanding School" awarded by the Youth America Grand Prix in 2006.
Schramel Conservatory of Dance children perform annually in New Orleans Ballet Theatre's "Nutcracker" and the "Pro-track" dancers have performed with NOBT in Balanchine's "Concerto Barocco," Schramel's "Patriotism," and with NOBT and New Orleans Opera Association's "The Pearl Fishers" in 2011, Carmina Burana in 2012, Samson and Delilah in 2013 and Cendrillon in 2014.
Our new location in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans features state of the art studios with sprung dance floors and Marley flooring. We have spacious waiting areas, dressing rooms, and ample free parking on the surrounding streets.
