December 2018

Dear Patron,

Greetings from New Orleans Ballet Theatre! As we come to the close of another successful year, we’d like to take a moment and reflect how our recent achievements would not have been possible without the gracious support of patrons like you. These successes have allowed us to expand significantly and further solidify our place as the premier ballet company in New Orleans. As you know, consistent financial support is the life-blood of an organization that aims for outstanding artistic quality, and I hope we can count on you.

The last few years have been a turning point for NOBT. We are swiftly approaching our fourth year at the beautiful Orpheum Theatre for our Nutcracker performances, and we are expanding to a total of six performances over a two-weekend engagement. Earlier this year, the company took a huge step and successfully added a full-length classical ballet to our season. The classic ballet, Giselle, was performed in May of 2018 at the Orpheum Theatre to critical acclaim, and we look forward to producing many other beloved, canonical ballets going forward each spring. I know audiences will be delighted with our new production of the timeless Cinderella in May of 2019, and we are also are looking forward to another new production, Tainted Love, to be held at Le Petit Theatre this upcoming February, showcasing a range of contemporary and neoclassical styles. With the support of our many patrons, all of these new and exciting works are made possible, and we are closer than ever to achieving our dream of having a full-time professional company.

As 2018 comes to a close, I ask you to consider a donation, so that we may continue our mission of providing excellent ballet to the community at large. Your fully tax-deductible gift will go toward paying dancers, building costumes and sets, providing free ballet classes to students at New Orleans public schools, and bringing performances of the highest quality to New Orleans and beyond. If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing you at upcoming NOBT performances.

In its 16th season, the New Orleans Ballet Theatre is ready to take the company to a new level, by hiring up to eight resident dancers. This will be the foundation of a fully professional resident ballet company in New Orleans. We need founding patrons to support this effort.
